SUSTAINABILITY AS TAHLUA

UPDATED SUSTAINABILITY MESSAGE-

An ode to the sea, sun, and sand.

Tahlua the Label was founded by Carissa Wolcott in 2020. Born out of a small mountain town and a childhood dream, the line combines practical and pleasant design with environmental mindfulness–for travel, for warm memories, and for long dreamy days perfumed by salty ocean air.

At the core of the Tahlua brand is a sense of a social responsibility for the wellbeing of people and the planet. Carissa sources only natural fibers for clothing and recycled material for swimwear. Each collection is intentionally designed for timelessness, comfort, and indelibility in any wardrobe.

All Tahlua clothing fabrics are composed of 100% cotton or 100% linen that has been handpicked and tested to ensure quality, softness, and texture–and to verify the total absence of synthetic material. Using plant-based fibers not only lessens the environmental impact of Tahlua’s clothing production, but offers everlasting comfort. Cotton and linen are known to mature over time, becoming softer with each wash and wear.

For swimwear, Carissa has selected ECONYL®, an ethical fabric recycled from fishing nets and other landfill waste. ECONYL® regeneration removes harmful materials from our oceans and also circumvents the need for petroleum, which is used in the production of virgin nylon. Being infinitely recyclable also means ECONYL® fabrics can be repurposed again and again in a virtuous loop.

Lastly, in a commitment to ethical production and transparency, Carissa has chosen each Tahlua factory with care. Each piece is hand-designed, handmade, hand-sewn, and hand-packaged with quality checks along every step of the process for the wearer’s peace of mind.

With a pledge to sustainability, quality, and tastefulness, Tahlua delivers stress free days. Each collection has been carefully crafted by Carissa to pay homage to one’s inherent inner beauty, and each piece is intended to be worn, treasured, and loved by one’s truest self for a long time to come.

From the sea, to the sea.
